Knox Street Is Changing Fast

Knox Street has long been one of the most recognizable shopping and dining destinations in Dallas. Located near Highland Park, the Katy Trail, and the McKinney-Knox area, the district has evolved through several distinct eras. Now, another major transformation is underway.

According to D Magazine, Knox Street is attracting a new wave of luxury retail, restaurants, and hospitality concepts while several longtime businesses have moved on or relocated.

One of the biggest projects shaping the future of the area is The Knox, Auberge Collection. The development is expected to bring Auberge’s first Dallas hotel property to Knox Street as part of a larger mixed-use project. The plans also include a pedestrian passage designed to connect Knox Street directly with the Katy Trail, along with a half-acre park.

That type of connection could further strengthen the relationship between Knox Street, the Katy Trail, and the surrounding McKinney-Knox and Highland Park areas.

New Retail and Restaurants Are Moving In

The latest changes go well beyond one hotel project.

According to D Magazine, a number of new retailers and food and beverage concepts are opening or planning locations on Knox Street. The list includes brands such as Alo, Bachendorf’s, Cult Gaia, Dôen, ME+EM, Staud, Toteme, TWP, and Visual Comfort.

The food and beverage lineup is also expanding. Sant Ambroeus, Sunlife Organics, The Main House, Théa Mediterranean Rooftop, and Victory Tap are among the concepts identified as coming to the district, while Cafe Lucca opened earlier in 2026.

These additions reinforce the direction Knox Street appears to be taking: a concentrated mix of luxury shopping, dining, hospitality, and lifestyle experiences in a highly walkable part of Dallas.

At the same time, the neighborhood is not simply adding businesses. It is also experiencing turnover.

Some Familiar Names Have Moved On

Several longtime or recognizable Knox Street businesses have relocated or closed their locations in recent years.

D Magazine notes that Chuy’s relocated to Greenville Avenue after 32 years in its Knox Street space. Pottery Barn moved to NorthPark in 2026, while Weir’s closed. Mar Y Sol also closed in mid-August and is expected to be replaced by Victory Tap.

That turnover is part of what makes this moment on Knox Street particularly significant. The district is not standing still. Its tenant mix and physical environment are changing at the same time.

What the Changes Could Mean for Knox Street

In my opinion, the transformation of Knox Street is another example of how Dallas neighborhoods continue to evolve around lifestyle, walkability, dining, retail, and mixed-use development.

Knox Street already benefits from its location near the Katy Trail and some of Dallas’ most desirable neighborhoods. Adding a major luxury hotel, more high-end retail, new restaurants, and a planned pedestrian connection to the Katy Trail could make the district an even more prominent destination for Dallas residents and visitors.

Of course, change also means that familiar businesses can disappear. For longtime Dallas residents, Knox Street may continue to feel different as new tenants replace older ones. But from a real estate and neighborhood perspective, the level of investment underway shows that major players continue to see long-term value in this part of Dallas.

The bigger story is not simply which store or restaurant is opening next. It is that Knox Street is being repositioned for its next chapter.

According to D Magazine, the Knox Street area is entering another transformative phase, driven by major redevelopment, luxury hospitality, new retail, and changing restaurant concepts.
