Frita Batidos Is Coming to Dallas

Dallas is getting a new restaurant with a Cuban-inspired twist, and this one is making its Texas debut right here in the city.

Frita Batidos will open in Dallas on August 17, 2026, at 4620 McKinney Ave. in the McKinney-Knox neighborhood, just off the Katy Trail. The restaurant is coming to Texas from Michigan, where Frita Batidos first opened in Ann Arbor in 2010.

Founded by chef Eve Aronoff Fernandez, Frita Batidos has since expanded beyond Ann Arbor to Detroit and Brooklyn. Its Brooklyn location gained national attention after its signature Frita was named among New York City’s best burgers by The New York Times.

Now, Dallas will become the restaurant’s Texas home.

According to CultureMap Dallas, the Dallas location will bring the brand’s Cuban-inspired street food concept, including its signature fritas and batidos, to the McKinney-Knox area.

What Is Frita Batidos?

The name comes from two Cuban staples that are central to the restaurant’s menu: fritas and batidos.

Fritas are Cuban-style burgers. At Frita Batidos, they are served on a soft egg bun and topped with shoestring fries. Customers can choose from several options, including beef, housemade chorizo, chicken, black bean, and Gulf redfish.

The burgers can also be customized with toppings such as cilantro-lime salsa, avocado spread, tropical slaw, Muenster cheese, and a sunny-side-up egg.

The other half of the restaurant’s name, batidos, refers to tropical fruit milkshakes.

Frita Batidos makes its batidos with vanilla bean ice cream and fresh fruit. Flavors include coconut cream, passion fruit, fresh lime, hibiscus, chocolate español, and cajeta.

For a lighter option, customers can choose a mango, pineapple, and crushed-ice version.

The menu goes beyond burgers and shakes, too.

Other offerings include crisped plantains with dipping sauces, loaded plantains with black beans and cheese, coconut-ginger rice layered with black beans and Muenster cheese, churros, cinnamon-sugar plantains, and rotating housemade paletas.

Frita Batidos’ Dallas Location Near the Katy Trail

Location is one of the most notable parts of this Dallas restaurant announcement.

Frita Batidos will open at 4620 McKinney Ave., in the McKinney-Knox neighborhood, just off the Katy Trail.

The area is already known for its restaurants, shopping, entertainment, residential properties, and access to one of Dallas’ most recognizable urban trails.

The Dallas restaurant will feature a bright, airy design created by architect Neal Robinson, a longtime collaborator with the Frita Batidos brand.

Inside, customers will find communal picnic-style tables, outlets for people who want to work while dining, and dominoes for guests to play.

A mural created by graffiti artist FEL3000ft featuring the phrase “Por Que No?!” will serve as the centerpiece of the restaurant.

That design fits the restaurant’s broader goal of creating more than simply a place to grab a burger. According to the owners, Frita Batidos emphasizes fresh, high-quality, locally sourced ingredients and aims to create a warm, welcoming community gathering place.

What Will Frita Batidos Serve?

The Dallas menu will focus heavily on Cuban-inspired street food.

Some of the key menu categories include:

  • Cuban-style fritas
  • Tropical fruit batidos
  • Plantains
  • Loaded plantains
  • Coconut-ginger rice
  • Churros
  • Housemade paletas
  • Tropical sodas
  • Fresh juices
  • Cocktails and nonalcoholic versions of cocktails

The beverage menu includes drinks such as margaritas, mojitos, piña coladas, daiquiris, sangria, and pisco hibiscus lemonade.

The restaurant will also offer nonalcoholic versions of its cocktails along with tropical sodas and fresh juices.

Frita Batidos Dallas Hours

According to the announcement, Frita Batidos’ Dallas location will operate during the following hours:

Sunday through Wednesday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Thursday through Saturday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Why This Dallas Restaurant Opening Is Worth Watching

In my opinion, Frita Batidos is an interesting addition to Dallas because it isn’t simply another burger restaurant.

The concept brings a distinct Cuban-inspired menu to a part of Dallas that already attracts people looking for restaurants, entertainment, shopping, and outdoor activities around the Katy Trail.

The Texas debut is also notable because Frita Batidos already has an established history outside Texas, including its original Ann Arbor location and restaurants in Detroit and Brooklyn.

For Dallas residents who enjoy trying restaurants that are different from the usual chain concepts, Frita Batidos could be a particularly interesting addition to the local dining scene.

And for the McKinney-Knox area, another distinctive restaurant can add to the neighborhood’s overall appeal as a destination for dining and entertainment.

Of course, the restaurant still has to open and build its Dallas following. But based on the brand’s existing history and its distinctive Cuban-inspired menu, Frita Batidos is definitely a Dallas restaurant opening worth keeping on your radar in August 2026.

My Dallas Real Estate Perspective

As a Dallas real estate professional, I pay attention to more than just home prices and inventory.

Restaurants, retail, entertainment, trails, and other neighborhood amenities are part of what makes different parts of Dallas attractive to residents and potential buyers. While one restaurant opening does not determine a neighborhood’s real estate value, continued investment in dining and lifestyle amenities can contribute to the overall experience of living in an area.

McKinney-Knox and the surrounding Katy Trail area already have a strong combination of location, walkability, restaurants, and access to outdoor recreation. Frita Batidos adds another layer to that mix.

If you’re considering buying or selling in Dallas, understanding the neighborhood beyond the property itself matters.
