Plano’s commercial landscape continues to evolve, and another international concept is joining the mix.

CultureMap Dallas reports that San Martín Bakery will open a new location at 5500 Preston Road in Plano this spring. The bakery-café brand was founded in Guatemala in 1974 and now operates dozens of locations across Guatemala and El Salvador. Dallas-Fort Worth remains its only U.S. market, making each expansion locally significant.

After launching in Uptown Dallas in 2018 and later opening in Addison, the brand is extending further into Collin County. The Plano location will mirror its other DFW cafés, offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a full bakery featuring fresh breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts prepared daily onsite. The company also serves coffee roasted at its facility in Guatemala City.

From a real estate perspective, this type of expansion reinforces long-term confidence in Plano and the broader North Texas economy. Restaurant growth often follows residential expansion, income stability, and consistent consumer demand. Preston Road in particular continues to attract strong retail and dining operators.

For buyers considering a move to Plano or sellers evaluating timing in 2026, commercial investment patterns are worth watching. New retail and restaurant activity typically enhances neighborhood appeal and supports sustained property values over time.

Plano, Dallas, and the greater DFW metroplex remain among the most dynamic real estate markets in Texas. Business openings like this reflect continued migration, economic resilience, and long-term opportunity.
