Why Frisco and McKinney Are Winning the Remote Work Battle in North Dallas

Frisco is not just growing, it is leading. A recent CultureMap Dallas article referencing SmartAsset’s 2026 national analysis of U.S. Census data placed Frisco at the very top of the country for remote work for the second year in a row.

The numbers are powerful: about one in three Frisco workers, or 33.7 percent, work from home, totaling more than 42,000 people in 2024. That level of remote employment is far above the national average and reinforces Frisco’s reputation as a magnet for white-collar professionals.

McKinney is following a similar trajectory. Remote work there climbed to 26.7 percent in 2024, bringing nearly 33,000 residents into full or partial work-from-home arrangements. That jump pushed McKinney into America’s top 10 remote cities, a major milestone for Collin County.

Commute patterns help explain the appeal. Frisco commuters average 27.3 minutes to work, while McKinney residents average 31.8 minutes. With so many professionals now able to work remotely, living farther from the urban core of Dallas has become more attractive than ever.

The financial incentive is also clear. According to a 2025 U.S. Census Bureau study cited by CultureMap Dallas, remote workers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area earn nearly 51 percent more than those who commute daily. Higher income, combined with flexible work, is exactly the demographic that tends to buy newer homes in Frisco, McKinney, Prosper, and Plano.

What this means for homeowners

For sellers in North Dallas, remote work is a tailwind, not a headwind. It expands your buyer pool beyond local commuters to professionals relocating from other Texas cities or even out of state. However, it also means competition is tougher, so strategic pricing and marketing matter more than ever.
