Nūr Coffee Brings a New Specialty Coffee Experience to Carrollton
Carrollton has a new destination for specialty coffee, matcha and fresh bites.
Nūr Coffee is now open at 2741 E. Belt Line Rd., Suite 107, near the border of Addison, bringing a new specialty coffee shop to the Carrollton and North Dallas area.
The concept comes from an entrepreneurial team that includes former NFL player Cedric Ogbuehi, Glo Tanning CEO Onyi Odunukwe and Lisa Nguyen, a longtime açai shop owner and wellness expert.
The name Nūr means “light” in Arabic and reflects the owners’ goal of creating a place that can “be a light in someone’s day.”
A Bright, Minimalist Coffee Shop Near Addison
One of the things that immediately distinguishes Nūr Coffee is its interior.
The owners worked with local interior designer Angela Chantell to create a bright, minimalist, and welcoming environment. The space uses natural light and soft cream tones, with a combination of communal seating and individual tables.

According to Ogbuehi, the goal was to create a peaceful and calming environment where customers do not feel rushed.
That positioning makes Nūr more than just another place to grab coffee. It is designed to be a place where people can sit, work, meet someone, or simply enjoy a drink in a relaxed environment.
For Carrollton residents, Addison residents and people traveling along East Belt Line Road, the location also makes it a convenient addition to the area’s growing food and beverage scene.
Specialty Coffee, Matcha and Signature Drinks
Nūr Coffee’s menu includes traditional coffee favorites such as lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, pour-overs and drip coffee.
However, the signature drinks are a major part of the concept.
Some of the featured drinks include the Golden Muse, a vanilla latte with caramel drizzle and vanilla cold foam; the Be Someone’s Light Latte, made with vanilla and cinnamon, an extra shot of espresso and vanilla cold foam; and the Blush Matcha, which combines ceremonial-grade matcha with mixed berries and vanilla cold foam.
The menu also includes the Daydream, made with Earl Grey tea and vanilla with steamed milk or vanilla cold foam.
For customers looking for something different, Nūr also offers rotating seasonal beverages. Current offerings include the Blackberry Cobbler Matcha and Lychee-Tini Matcha, which is made with coconut water.
The coffee beans are sourced from Viewfinder Coffee Roasters.
Food Options Include English Muffins and Açai Bowls
Nūr’s food menu extends beyond traditional coffee-shop pastries.
The shop focuses on savory and sweet English muffins, including avocado smash, creamy salmon, banana brûlée, and a Tokyo egg muffin.
Nūr also partners with local bakery Commissary, which supplies cinnamon rolls and cookies.
The menu also features açai bowls and fruit-and-nut wellness cups, giving customers additional breakfast and snack options beyond coffee and pastries.
Another interesting part of the concept is the plan for monthly limited-edition menu drops, introducing new drinks and food items to keep the menu changing.
Nūr Coffee Is Also Offering a Membership
For frequent coffee customers, Nūr offers a membership program priced at $59 per month.
The membership includes unlimited daily coffee, a 10 percent discount on food, and a $2.50 surcharge for specialty drinks.
Whether the membership makes financial sense will depend heavily on how frequently someone visits and what they typically order, but it is an interesting approach for a new independent coffee concept trying to build a loyal customer base.
Expansion Plans Include Uptown Dallas and Hurst
Nūr Coffee is not stopping with its first Carrollton location.
According to CultureMap Dallas, the owners hope to open additional locations in Uptown Dallas and Hurst by the end of 2026. Their longer-term goal is to reach five total locations by the end of 2027.
That is an ambitious expansion strategy for a new coffee brand, particularly in a DFW market where specialty coffee, matcha, and café concepts continue to compete for customers.
My Take: Nūr Could Become More Than a Neighborhood Coffee Shop
From my perspective, the most interesting part of Nūr Coffee is not simply that another coffee shop opened in Carrollton.
It is the combination of specialty drinks, wellness-focused food, a carefully designed interior, rotating limited-edition products, and an expansion strategy.
Carrollton and the surrounding North Dallas area have continued to attract restaurants, retail and other businesses, and new concepts like Nūr add another layer to the local lifestyle and dining scene.
I also think the location near the Addison border is strategically interesting. It puts Nūr within reach of customers from Carrollton, Addison and nearby North Dallas communities rather than relying solely on one neighborhood.
The real test, however, will be whether Nūr can build repeat customers and maintain the quality and hospitality that its concept promises as it expands.
For now, if you are searching for a new coffee shop in Carrollton, a specialty coffee shop near Addison, or a new matcha spot in North Dallas, Nūr Coffee is one to put on your radar.
Nūr Coffee is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
