Oak Cliff, Dallas, continues to attract attention as major retailers expand deeper into the area. According to CultureMap Dallas, a brand-new Target store at Wynnewood Village will officially open on March 15, bringing one of the most requested retail additions to the neighborhood.
The store is located at 655 W. Illinois Ave., near the intersection of West Illinois Avenue and South Zang Boulevard. This project has been under development for almost three years and replaces a space that was initially planned for a movie theater. While smaller than some suburban Target locations, the 111,000-square-foot store is still a meaningful investment in the Oak Cliff community.
The location will feature Drive Up, Order Pickup, next-day delivery options, a CVS Pharmacy, and a Starbucks Café. Target also confirmed the store will employ over 160 people and operate daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Target noted that this Oak Cliff store is its 160th location in Texas and its 51st in the Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington region, with an assortment designed to reflect local community needs. This aligns with Target’s broader plan to open more than 300 new stores nationwide over the next decade.
What This Means for Dallas Homeowners and Buyers
Retail expansion is often an early indicator of neighborhood momentum. When large national brands commit to a specific area, it suggests confidence in local demographics, spending power, and long-term demand.
For Oak Cliff homeowners, this kind of development supports neighborhood convenience and reinforces buyer interest. For homebuyers considering Oak Cliff, proximity to daily essentials like Target can influence purchasing decisions, especially for families and professionals prioritizing accessibility.
From a real estate perspective, the story here is not just about a store opening. It is about Oak Cliff continuing to evolve as a complete, livable Dallas neighborhood with strong infrastructure and services.
