Arlington is getting a bold new landmark in its Sports and Entertainment District, and it starts with tearing something down before building something bigger. The existing Sheraton Arlington Hotel is expected to be demolished in early June 2026, clearing the way for the Americana by Loews Hotels Arlington, a $500 million development scheduled to break ground in summer 2026 and open in 2029.

This project represents Loews Hotels & Co’s third property in Arlington, adding to Live! by Loews and Loews Arlington Hotel. Collectively, these hotels will create a massive hospitality campus totaling 1,695 rooms and over 374,000 square feet of meeting and event space, making Arlington one of the strongest convention hubs in North Texas.

The new Americana hotel will bring 507 guest rooms, including 39 suites, along with extensive event facilities. Plans include a 10,000-square-foot Event Barn, two large ballrooms, an outdoor event lawn, a pool terrace, and dining spaces designed to keep guests on-site for longer stays. This type of investment is built for high-volume tourism, corporate meetings, and major sports weekends.

The location could not be more strategic. The hotel sits steps away from AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, Choctaw Stadium, and major cultural attractions like the National Medal of Honor Museum. That proximity ensures steady demand from travelers, sports fans, and business groups year-round.

According to CultureMap Dallas, Loews executives see this project as both a tribute to their historic Americana Hotel in Florida and a forward-looking bet on Arlington’s future. Company leadership has publicly expressed confidence in the city’s continued growth as a top-tier destination.

From a real estate perspective, this matters. Large-scale hospitality developments typically increase visibility for a city, attract new employers, and raise the profile of nearby neighborhoods. Over time, that can translate into stronger buyer demand, higher rental interest, and greater stability for homeowners in Arlington and surrounding communities.

Arlington is evolving from a weekend destination into a full-scale economic center within the DFW metroplex. The Americana by Loews project reinforces that shift and places the city squarely on the national stage.
