Momo2Go Opens New Restaurant in Frisco, Texas

Frisco continues to attract new restaurants and businesses, and the latest addition brings a different type of cuisine to the local food scene.

Momo2Go, a Canadian fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in momos, has opened a new location at 5500 Preston Rd. #102 in Frisco, Texas. The restaurant is located in the Preston Lebanon Crossing shopping center, in the space previously occupied by Lalo’s Cocina Mexicana.

For people unfamiliar with momos, they are dumplings that are a staple of Himalayan cuisine. Momo2Go offers several varieties, including traditional steamed momos as well as fusion-style creations inspired by momo vendors in India and Nepal.

The Frisco opening is particularly notable because it is the restaurant’s second North Texas location. Momo2Go already operates a location in Irving, which opened in 2023.

What Is on the Momo2Go Frisco Menu?

The Momo2Go menu goes beyond traditional dumplings.

Customers can choose steamed momos filled with beef, chicken, or vegetables. The momos can also be served “dry,” meaning pan-fried without sauce, or with sauce.

Some of the restaurant’s signature dishes include Butter Chicken Momo, which combines dumplings with a creamy butter chicken sauce; Delhi Masala Momo, featuring fried dumplings with Himalayan sauce and mint chutney; and Momo65, deep-fried dumplings served with spicy mayonnaise and curry.

Momo2Go also has options for customers looking beyond momos. The menu includes vegetarian and vegan dishes such as Schezwan Tofu Gravy and Gobi Manchurian, along with soybean-based chaap.

There are also fried rice and noodle dishes, including Himalayan-inspired chow mein, as well as several versions of French fries, including chili fries and honey chili fries.

That variety could make the restaurant appealing not only to people specifically looking for Himalayan food in Frisco, but also to groups with different food preferences.

Why Did Momo2Go Choose Frisco?

Frisco has become one of the major population and business growth areas in North Texas, and the restaurant’s owners see an opportunity to serve the area’s changing demographics.

According to a spokesperson cited by CultureMap Dallas, the owners selected Frisco because of its growing Asian population and increasing demand for halal food preparation.

Halal food refers to food prepared according to Islamic dietary guidelines. CultureMap Dallas also notes that halal food is an increasing trend across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The Frisco location has plenty of seating, and the restaurant’s interior features a large mural depicting blue skies and clouds along with the phrase, “I followed my heart, and it led me to momo.”

My Take as a Dallas-Fort Worth Realtor

From a local perspective, I think the opening of Momo2Go is another example of how Frisco’s growth is influencing the types of restaurants and businesses choosing to establish themselves in the area.

Frisco isn’t just adding more restaurants. Its expanding population and changing demographics are creating demand for more diverse dining options, including Asian and Himalayan cuisine.

For residents, that means more choices. For people considering moving to Frisco, local restaurants, retail, entertainment, and other amenities are also part of the bigger picture when evaluating a community.
