Last night, I officially chaired the Republican Precinct Convention for Precinct 4033 in Dallas. As a Realtor and a Precinct Chair, I believe my duty to my clients goes beyond just finding them a house. It involves fighting for the policies that make homeownership sustainable and affordable in North Texas.
During the meeting, I authored and successfully submitted a formal resolution calling for a Purchase-Price Appraisal Freeze.
As someone who helps people buy and sell real estate in Dallas every day, I see the “appraisal shock” that hits families a year after they close on their dream home. When property taxes are unpredictable, it creates a barrier to the American Dream. My resolution proposes that the taxable value of a primary residence be locked at the most recent purchase price for as long as the owner lives there.
This gives every homeowner in Dallas total financial certainty. You should know exactly what your tax obligation is from the day you sign your closing papers.
By submitting this proposal, I have ensured that our neighborhood’s voice is part of the official record. This resolution now moves forward to be reviewed and considered at the Senate District convention. While the path to changing state law is a long process involving multiple committee reviews and votes, taking this first step is how we start the conversation.
Advocacy is a core part of my business because I am committed to seeing Dallas thrive.
