Dallas Ranks Among Best Cities to Start a Business in 2026 — What It Means for Real Estate

Wallethub best large cities to start a business

Dallas continues to solidify its position as one of the most dynamic economic hubs in the United States. According to CultureMap Dallas, citing a new WalletHub 2026 report, Dallas is now ranked the #11 best large city in the U.S. to start a business. For anyone watching the Dallas-Fort Worth economy closely, this is not just another ranking—it’s a signal.

WalletHub evaluated 100 major U.S. cities across 19 key metrics, including business environment, access to resources, and overall costs. Dallas stood out with the 5th-best business environment nationwide, reinforcing its reputation as a pro-growth, opportunity-rich market for entrepreneurs and companies alike.

In my view, this ranking confirms what we are already seeing on the ground across Dallas real estate. Population growth is steady, job creation remains strong, and small business activity continues to expand across North Texas. These are not isolated trends—they are interconnected drivers that directly influence housing demand, property values, and long-term investment opportunities.

What makes this even more compelling is that Dallas is not alone. Irving ranked #16, Arlington #23, Fort Worth #30, Plano #35, and Garland also made the list. This tells us the entire Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is functioning as a powerful economic ecosystem, not just a single standout city.

However, it is important to stay grounded. While Dallas ranked highly in business environment, it placed lower in access to resources and business costs. That means opportunity exists, but strategy matters. Entrepreneurs and homeowners who move with intention will benefit the most.

From a real estate perspective, this kind of economic momentum creates ripple effects. More businesses lead to more jobs. More jobs lead to population growth. And population growth increases demand for housing across Dallas, Plano, Irving, and surrounding DFW cities.

If you are a Dallas homeowner or planning to enter the market, this is where positioning becomes critical. A growing economy does not automatically guarantee success—you need a clear plan.
